Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Tact ("Tact", "we", "our") is a Chrome extension that rewrites Japanese business text using AI. The service is operated by Rational Capital (contact: rennrakuu@gmail.com).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Text you select (processed, not stored)

When you use J5 to rewrite text, the selected text is sent over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker (j5-api.rennrakuu.workers.dev), which forwards it to the Google Gemini API for rewriting. The text is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers or in any database. Cloudflare's standard request logs may retain the text briefly (up to 24 hours) for security and abuse prevention, subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

2.2 Account information

If you sign in with Google, we receive and store the following in our Supabase database:

• Email address
• Google account user ID (for authentication)
• Subscription plan status (free / paid)
• Stripe customer ID (if you subscribe)
• Account creation timestamp

2.3 Local data (stored only on your device)

The following data is stored locally in your browser's chrome.storage.local and never sent to our servers:

• Saved contacts (name, recipient type, keigo level you registered)
• Daily usage count
• Last selected contact ID
• Cached plan status

2.4 Payment information

Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not receive or store your credit card details. Stripe's handling of payment data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and manage your account
• To enforce free-tier usage limits (5 rewrites/day)
• To process subscription payments and grant paid access
• To provide the core rewriting service via Gemini API

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google Gemini API — Processes the text you select. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Generative AI Terms and Google's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase — Stores your account information (email, plan status). Supabase Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare Workers — Routes API requests between the extension and Gemini. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• Stripe — Processes subscription payments. Stripe Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

• Account data: retained until you request deletion
• Text content: not stored — processed and discarded immediately
• Local storage: cleared when you uninstall the extension

6. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Opt-out: California residents may opt out of sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)

7. Children's Privacy

J5 is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of J5 after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
